Tim, known online as Woken_Cosplay, has been an active force in the Perth cosplay community since 2009. Best known for their striking body-altering and genderbent cosplays, Tim has built an impressive portfolio inspired by series such as Hellaverse, Naruto, and Resident Evil. For them, cosplay is about transformation in every sense of the word. Stepping into another character for a day, challenging perceptions, and pushing creative boundaries through skills refined over nearly two decades in the hobby.
Throughout their cosplay journey, Tim has developed expertise in armour smithing, sewing, painting, and thermoplastics. Skills that have even crossed over into their professional life. Their experience shaping thermoplastics for cosplay directly supports their work in hospital settings, crafting splints for patients recovering from hand and wrist injuries. Tim has also dedicated themself to strengthening the community they love, volunteering at pop culture expos since 2010 and currently serving as President of Pixel Expo in Perth, WA.
For Tim, cosplay has always been about connection. From creating magical in-character moments for young fans at events to proposing to their now-wife on the very stage where they first competed together, cosplay has shaped some of the most meaningful milestones in their life. While competitions aren’t their primary focus, uplifting new cosplayers and fostering an inclusive, welcoming environment absolutely are. Tim’s passion lies in helping others feel confident enough to step into costume, embrace creativity, and experience the joy that has defined their own 17-year journey.
