Ty Olsson

Ty Olsson is a Canadian actor recognized for his versatile performances in both live-action and voice roles across television and film. He gained early fame as the voice of Ord in the beloved children’s animated series Dragon Tales (1999–2005) and further established himself in animation with roles in Class of the Titans and Being Ian. In live-action, Olsson portrayed real-life hero Mark Bingham in the critically acclaimed A&E film Flight 93 (2006), a role that showcased his ability to bring emotional depth and authenticity to true stories. He has also appeared in a variety of science fiction and fantasy series, including Battlestar Galactica, Defying Gravity, and Eureka.

Perhaps most widely known to genre fans for his recurring role as Benny Lafitte, a soulful vampire and ally to Dean Winchester in Supernatural (2013–2019), Olsson brought a complex and sympathetic edge to the character that made him a fan favorite. Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia and raised in Ottawa, Ontario, he studied drama, dance, and music at Canterbury High School before continuing his training at Studio 58 in Vancouver. Throughout his career, Olsson has consistently taken on character-driven roles that demonstrate his range and depth as a performer, making him a reliable and respected presence in both Canadian and international productions.
