Katie Cassidy

Katie Cassidy is an American actress known for her work across television, film, and video games, with a career that has spanned over two decades. She made her television debut in 2003 on The Division and went on to appear in a range of guest and recurring roles on popular shows such as 7th Heaven, Sex, Love & Secrets, and New Girl. Her film debut came in 2006 with the horror remake When a Stranger Calls, followed by supporting roles in Click, Taken, and Live!. Cassidy quickly became a recognizable face in the horror genre, starring in Black Christmas and earning the title of “Scream Queen” after her lead role in the 2010 remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street, for which she received a Teen Choice Award nomination.

Cassidy gained further prominence with her role as the demon Ruby on Supernatural, and later as Patricia “Trish” Wellington on the CBS mystery series Harper’s Island. Her performance as the sharp and ambitious Ella Simms in the 2009 reboot of Melrose Place was widely praised, even as the series struggled in ratings. In 2010, she joined Gossip Girl in a major recurring arc as the scheming Juliet Sharp. Her film credits from this period also include the ensemble comedy Monte Carlo and the graphic novel adaptation The Scribbler, where she played the lead role of Suki, a young woman with dissociative identity disorder.

In 2012, Cassidy took on what would become her most iconic role to date—Laurel Lance, also known as the Black Canary, in The CW’s superhero series Arrow. Over the course of the show, she portrayed multiple versions of her character, including the Earth-2 villain Black Siren, becoming a cornerstone of the Arrowverse franchise. She remained a series regular through the end of the show and made appearances on The Flash and other crossover episodes, eventually making her directorial debut in Arrow‘s eighth season. Cassidy has continued to explore darker and more complex roles, such as her performance in Wolves at the Door, inspired by the Manson family murders, and lent her voice and likeness to the 2017 PS4 thriller Hidden Agenda, further expanding her range as a performer.
