Demios is a Canadian cosplayer and competitive costume maker who has been cosplaying since 2019 and competing in craftsmanship competitions since 2023.
A predominantly self-taught creator, Demios has built costumes including Inosuke from Demon Slayer, Preminger from Barbie Princess and the Pauper, Keith from Voltron and an original Ultra Monster Energy Hatsune Miku design. They have also modified existing costumes to create personalised interpretations of characters, and are currently working on Tim Drake’s Robin suit from Batman.
Demios has a particular love for the technical and unusual side of costume construction, experimenting with techniques ranging from foam armour and fabric distressing to metal casting and detailed textile work. Their builds are often packed with intricate details that may never be seen by an audience – simply because they know they’re there.
Their competitive cosplay journey includes Best Novice at the Calgary Expo Stampede Qualifier in 2024 for their Witcher 3 Mastercrafted School of the Cat armour. They have also presented their Crash Course on Competitive Cosplay panel and are passionate about sharing the skills and knowledge they’ve developed along the way.
For Demios, cosplay is about self-expression, creativity and the connections formed through making. They particularly love the camaraderie backstage at competitions and the opportunity to see how other cosplayers approach their craft.
