Cat Sparks is a multi-award winning science fiction and fantasy author. Her debut novel, Lotus Blue, set in a far future war-and-climate-ravaged Australia, is described as ‘Mad Max meets Ghost in the Shell’ and was shortlisted for the Compton Crook, Aurealis and Ditmar Awards.

Formerly Fiction Editor of Cosmos Magazine, Cat has also worked as a media monitor, political and archaeological photographer and graphic designer. She directed two Sydney speculative fiction festivals and is regularly invited to speak at literary festivals and events. Her recently completed PhD examines the intersection of science fiction and climate fiction.

Her short story collection, The Bride Price was published in 2013. Eighty-five of Cat’s articles and short stories have been published in magazines and anthologies including The Year’s Best Fantasy and Horror, Years Best SF, Loosed Upon the World, Solaris Rising, Lightspeed Magazine, Boing Boing, The Daily Beast, Tor.com, Hypable, Whatever and Electric Literature
