Brisbane September 22 - 23, Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre

Scott Ian is the guitarist, lyricist, backing vocalist, and a founding member of thrash metal band, Anthrax.

Anthrax redefined the metal genre in the ’80s, combining the speed and fury of hardcore punk with the prominent guitars and vocals of heavy metal to create a new subgenre. Along with Metallica, Megadeth, and Slayer, Anthrax is credited with putting speed and thrash metal on the map.

A New York City native, Scott was influenced to become a metal musician after witnessing KISS live in Madison Square Garden as a young teen. He formed Anthrax in 1981 with high school friends Dan Lilker and Neil Turbin, and the band followed Megaforce Records bosses around the city until they landed a record deal. And with 11 studio albums now under their belt, it’s safe to say the rest is history!

Scott is also a massive pop culture fan, with appearances in The Walking Dead, AMC’s Talking Dead, Married…With Children, Metalocalypse, and a song on the soundtrack for Battlestar Galactica: The Plan. In 2008, DC Comics approached Scott to write a miniseries for antihero biker character Lobo, with Lobo: Highway to Hell released the following year.

He has hosted a plethora of rock and metal shows on VH1 – including The Rock Show – and appeared on Gene Simmons Family Jewels. Additionally, many of his lyrics are inspired by horror author Stephen King, and King is in return a big heavy metal fan – listing Anthrax among his favorite bands.

Scott is married to Meat Loaf’s daughter Pearl Aday and plays guitar in her band, Pearl. The band appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live in 2010. He is also a guitarist in metal bands the Damned Things, Motor Sister, and Stormtroopers of Death, and co-owns a rock bar called Dead Man’s Hand in Las Vegas with Jerry Cantrell of Alice in Chains.
